TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. – On the afternoon of Dec. 8, firefighters responded to a three-alarm blaze that broke out at 68 Danforth Rd.

According to the Tyngsborough Fire Department, upon arrival at 3 p.m., crews struck a second alarm as they observed flames shooting from the roof of the two-and-a-half story home.

It was also difficult to get fire apparatus to the scene as the home was located near the end of Danforth Road which is a dead end.

Although firefighters were initially able to mount an aggressive attack against the worst part of the blaze, they quickly found themselves at a disadvantage as there were no fire hydrants nearby. Therefore, they needed to wait for tankers to arrive at the scene.

While waiting for the tankers, heavy fire, once again, began to engulf the house prompting a third alarm. The fire was brought under control once the tankers arrived.

In addition to Nashua and Hudson, other Massachusetts fire departments to respond included Dunstable, Westford, Groton, Pepperell, Dracut and Chelmsford.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

According to the town’s Assessor’s Office, the home is owned by David and Georgia Desmond.
