City man resists arrest, breaks officer’s arm

NASHUA – Jonathan Bennett, 27, of Nashua, was taken into custody on Sept. 23 after allegedly breaking the arm of a police officer.

According to the Nashua Police Department, officers were on patrol at the Temple Street Hotel, 23 Temple St. where they observed several individuals allegedly using drugs in one of the communal bathrooms.

When told to stop, Bennett reportedly fled from police. Once officers caught up with him, Bennett began to resist their efforts to arrest him. During the confrontation, one of the officers allegedly suffered a broken arm.

Bennett has been charged with two counts of resisting arrest/detention and resisting arrest/detention with serious bodily injury.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Sept. 24.

Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to eight years in prison, up to five years of probation and up to $6,000 in fines.
