Massachusetts man killed in Turnpike crash

By Christopher Roberson - Staff Writer | Aug 20, 2025

NASHUA – Joseph Casper, 85, of South Boston, Mass., died on the afternoon of Aug. 18 following a three-vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike.

According to State Police, troopers responded to exit 7E at 2:48 p.m. for a report of a vehicle rollover on the northbound side of the Turnpike.

The preliminary investigation suggested that an Audi Q5, driven by Candice Maple, 17, of Dunstable, Mass., had rear-ended a Lexus ES, which was driven by Casper. The impact of the collision reportedly caused Casper’s vehicle to hit a Ram 1500 pickup truck, driven by Brian Roberts, 50, of Churchill, Tenn. The second collision caused Roberts’ truck to roll onto its side.

Casper was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Maple was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Roberts also sustained minor injuries; however, hospital care was not needed.

Additional information has not been released as the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Trooper Mark Lingerman at Mark.N.Lingerman@dos.nh.gov.
