City man arrested following knife incident

NASHUA – Demetrious Charles, 26, of Nashua, was taken into custody on July 2 after reportedly making threats with a knife.

According to the Nashua Police Department, officers responded to the scene on Gillis Street and were told by witnesses that Charles was involved in a verbal dispute which escalated into him pulling out a knife and making threats.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division spoke to the alleged victim and recovered the knife at the scene.

Charles has since been charged with criminal threatening with a deadly weapon.

He was held on preventative detention and was arraigned in Nashua District Court on July 3.

Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison, up to five years of probation and a fine of up to $4,000.
