NASHUA – Former Youth Pastor Kevin Kokx has been accused of sexual assault and unsuccessful propositioning during his 10-year tenure at Trinity Baptist Church.

In addition to his role as youth pastor, Kokx was also the student ministries director from 1998 through 2008.

The incidents, which allegedly included two sexual assaults and unsuccessful propositioning, reportedly took place in the early-2000s, when the female victim was still a teenager. At the victim’s request, the full details of the alleged incidents have not been released.

The church’s leadership became aware of the allegations in May 2023 and hired Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment to conduct an investigation. Based in Virginia, GRACE is an independent nonprofit organization that specializes in cases involving sexual, psychological and physical abuse among Christian groups.

On June 22 of this year, the church released GRACE’s 58-page report.

According to the report, GRACE interviewed 21 individuals. A voluntary survey was also put online and produced 56 responses. Kokx reportedly declined to be interviewed despite being given numerous opportunities to do so.

“GRACE made several attempts to speak with Kevin Kokx as part of its investigation. In doing so, GRACE received email correspondence from an attorney who indicated he was representing Kevin Kokx,” the report stated. “The scope of the investigation was shared with the attorney via email. A return response was received with a brief statement denying any incidents of sexual misconduct by Kevin Kokx. GRACE investigators sent two additional emails to the attorney of Kevin Kokx in an attempt to secure an interview. This denial was delivered via email by his attorney along with a brief statement ‘vehemently denying any wrongdoing.'”

However, GRACE ultimately determined that there were “multiple witnesses” who supported the victim’s allegations. The witnesses also described Kokx making inappropriate comments and jokes, initiating unwanted physical contact and being alone with students.

“GRACE commends the reporting victim for her courage in disclosing the deeply painful experiences she endured. Her willingness to share these memories, despite the emotional toll and potential for retraumatization, has catalyzed an opportunity for institutional reflection, healing and change,” the report stated. “GRACE recognizes the immense strength it takes not only to survive such harm but to speak truthfully about it in hopes of protecting others. Trinity Baptist Church owes her a debt of gratitude. GRACE also commends the response of Trinity Baptist Church since the victim’s disclosure. Church leaders demonstrated sincere care in walking with the victim during her progressive disclosure process and by initiating this independent investigation. Church leadership consistently affirmed her credibility, communicated transparently with the congregation and acknowledged the need for systemic improvements. These actions reflect a sincere desire to walk in light, even when the light reveals painful truths.”
