NASHUA – The annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period, Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, need not be a time of confusion because the health care plan professionals at The Lenny Dobens Agency in Nashua have issued an invitation to the community in honor of Lenny Dobens, the late patriarch of an enterprise now celebrating its 65th Anniversary.
Dorothy Dobens Tamez is the daughter of the man born in 1932 whose childhood in an orphan’s home stoked in him excellence rather than defeat. She offers here an opportunity to come for a casual sit-down about Medicare plan selections.
She recently announced, “We can think of no better way to carry on my dad’s love of helping others, than to carry his spirit forward and usher his beloved company into a new era,”
Tamez reflects upon the company’s 65 years. Lenny Dobens was a toddler when his parents realized they could not provide for him. He found fulfillment not in the orphans’ home but upon maturing amid the Nashua community. Lenny’s intelligence, drive and fellowship won him the class presidency of Nashua High School Class of 1951.
A knack for figures and languages was recognized early on by school chums who rallied to supplement Doben’s college tuition. He achieved a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire.

A Father's Day reminiscence of the 65-year legacy inherent from Lenny Dobens, the late founder of The Lenny Dobens Agency, health care plan specialists of more than a half century, is shared by agency associates, from left, Sheila Shaw of Milford, Dorothy Dobens Tamez of Nashua (Lenny's daughter), and Charles Dobens of Nashua (Lenny's son) — an expert trio of professionals carrying on the patriarch's mission of service into a new era. Service in the U.S. Air Force fulfilled a sense of patriotism that spurred him to become a linguist during the Korean War. A solid position with New York Life Insurance Company in a career of 55 years was sustained by his love for helping clients understand Medicare supplement insurance and select individualized plans tailored to their needs.
“My father’s devotion to his clients was on full display while in cardiac care at a hospital where a heart pump was keeping him alive during open enrollment,” she recalled.
“He was determined to make sure his seniors were taken care of by sorting through paperwork and answering messages just days before we lost him to heart disease in 2014.”
The Dobens Family is dedicated to bringing that level of care to all who will be wondering during Open Enrollment if their current health plans are right for them. A visit with no obligation is always available at The Lenny Dobens Agency.
