WINDHAM – Stephanie Wan, a graduate of Windham High School, was one of 40 college students from around the country to be chosen for the elite Television Academy Foundation Internship program in Los Angeles.

“I am absolutely honored and feel so lucky that I get this opportunity to learn from the Television Academy and its members,” said Wan, who will be a senior at Chapman University this fall. “If you told freshman me, who wanted so badly to work in television and apply for this internship program but was too scared that I wouldn’t ever be good enough to get it, that I would have this opportunity now, she would literally scream in excitement. I am so incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited to finally get started.”

By taking part in this internship, Wan will have the opportunity to work with the top studios and production companies in Hollywood.

“What excites me the most about this internship is the ability to gain both real world experience working in production management at a production company as well as getting access to Television Academy resources and workshops to help me further my knowledge and understanding of what it is like working in the industry,” she said.

Wan said television has been her “safe place” since she was a child watching the Disney Channel and PBS.

“All my anxiousness and stress were gone when I could just enjoy fun stories that made me smile or laugh,” she said. “Television taught me who I wanted to be when I grew older; someone brave, confident and kind. I want to work in TV and work on shows that shape the next generation.”

Going into her final year of college, Wan is majoring in creative producing with a minor in business administration.

This summer, she is interning at Asteria Film, an artist-led film and animation studio.
