St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church Festival a community celebration

Many of the thousands from the region whose travels led to food, fun, dancing and live music at the St. Philip Greek Food Festival, hosted May 16-17 at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church on West Hollis Street in Nashua, were greeted by these event organizers, from left, Marcy Mazur, George Eftimiou, Stella Bloom, Peter Koutroubas and Jamie Pappas, a contingent whose thanks were extended to a host of volunteers and supporters that has made the longstanding annual tradition a stellar success. Cited for kudos by the team were Yiayia's Kouzina (Traditional Greek Foods), Kiki's Kafenio (The Coffee House) Zoe's Glyka (Greek Pastry) Pappou's Gyro Grill (Traditional and Vegetarian Gyros) Louie's Loukoumathes (Greek Honey Puffs) and an Athenian Marketplace (Everything Greek). Attendees savored tender Lamb Shank, Lamb Souvlaki and Chicken Souvlaki, along with Dolmathes, Spanakopita, Keftedes and Rizogalo — a light and creamy Greek rice pudding of whole milk, cinnamon and the zest of oranges and lemons.
