Senior Citizen Dinner a service of MHS Student Council

By Staff | May 19, 2025

The aroma of simmering spaghetti sauce, meatballs and pasta wafted through the cafeteria of Merrimack High School on the evening of May 18, as MHS Student Council members, from left, Shaun Evidente, Erin Murray, Maeve LaRock and Hailey Downie, all seniors residing in Merrimack, prepared and presented to around 60 respected elders from the nearby Merrimack Senior Citizens Club, a Senior Citizen Dinner. The dinner, highlighted by some student dance club performances, was followed by desserts that included banana pudding. The event was part of the Council's mission to do good in the community through intergenerational service projects and other beneficial programs. This year's roster of accomplishments includes senior tech help classes, pep rallies and a mattress sale fundraiser that Student Council spokespersons concurred, "exceeded all our expectations." The community outreach is recognized with official notation in student records and in commendations upon graduation. Information on the many organizations, clubs, sports teams and activities at Merrimack High School, 38 McElwain St., in Merrimack, can be had online: sau26.org. Photo by LORETTA JACKSON
