Nashua man stays out of prison despite assaulting 4-year-old

NASHUA – Jose Gurley of Nashua will not go to prison for attacking a four-year-old boy in January 2024.
Instead, he was given a suspended sentence of two-and-a-half to five years. Gurley can avoid incarceration by completing a period of probation.
According to the Nashua Police Department, officers responded to a medical emergency at an apartment on Myrtle Street on Jan. 19, 2024. Upon arrival, officers found the boy with “serious head and facial injuries.” At the time, Gurley was dating the boy’s mother.
Court documents indicated that during the assault, Gurley fractured the boy’s nose, finger and left cheekbone. He also lacerated the boy’s ear, forehead and kidney, pulled the boy’s hair and inflicted a scalp injury.
During their investigation, officers learned that Gurley had fled to Maine after the assault. Working with the Maine State Police, officers caught up with him on Jan. 26, 2024 when they located a vehicle associated with Gurley and connected it with a residence in Cornish, Maine.
