By Staff | Jan 17, 2025

CONCORD – Merrimack County Savings Bank recently committed to supporting the capacity building efforts of Overcomers Refugee Services with a $9,400 pledge.

Funded through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority, the contribution will go toward expanding the social services necessary to help newly resettled refugees fully integrate into the community.

Overcomers provides ongoing support, education and cultural orientation including assistance finding employment, stable housing and even starting a small business. Through these capacity building efforts, Overcomers will expand their programs and focus on community economic development.

“Support from local organizations like The Merrimack allows us to strengthen and grow over the next two years,” said Clement Kigugu, executive director of Overcomers. “We’re already exploring micro-business development for refugees, transitional housing through partnerships and establishing worker co-ops.”

“Clement and his team go above and beyond to help refugees adapt to a new culture,” said bank President Linda Lorden. “We’re proud to be a longstanding supporter of Overcomers Refugee Services and the invaluable services they provide to our immigrant community.”

Overcomers is a nonprofit that empowers refugees and new Americans to become successful, contributing members of New Hampshire society. Through charitable donations, Overcomers is able to provide social services to men, women and children through trained volunteers.
