Massachusetts man charged with burglarizing Pelham self storage facility
PELHAM – Chase Bryant, 29, of Dracut, Mass., was taken into custody on Nov. 8 in connection with a series of break-ins at Pelham Storage.
According to the Pelham Police Department, officers determined that Bryant was going through the woods behind the property to gain access to the storage facility at 70 Bridge St.
Officers reportedly found Bryant at 12:40 p.m. on Nov. 8 while searching the woods. At the time, Bryant was “surrounded by numerous items that were believed to be stolen.”
Bryant allegedly fled the scene on foot as officers tried to detain him. After pursuing him for a time, police lost sight of Bryant when he crossed through heavy traffic on Bridge Street. Officers then set up a perimeter and requested assistance from Salem and Dracut, Mass. police.
A short time later, a resident on Lori Lane reported to police that someone was in her backyard. Bryant tried to run again when officers found him for the second time. This time, he was unable to escape and was placed under arrest.
He has been charged with burglary, receiving stolen property, felony possession of drugs, possession of burglarious tools, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
Bryant was held without bail and was taken to Valley Street Jail in Manchester. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 12 at Salem District Court.
Under state law, if convicted, Bryant could face up to 24 years in prison, up to 12 years of probation and up to $37,000 in fines.
