Nashua man killed in Amherst Street crash

NASHUA — Edwin Hacker III, 30, of Nashua, died after his motorcycle collided with an SUV at Amherst and Capitol streets on the afternoon of Sept. 23.

According to the Nashua Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m.

When they arrived at the scene, police, firefighters and paramedics found Hacker “on the ground and unresponsive.” Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered at the scene and continued as Hacker was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

His death is the 100th traffic fatality in New Hampshire this year.

The driver of the SUV, Keith McDonough, 51, of Nashua, was not injured. He remained at the scene and has been cooperating in the investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

According to his obituary, Hacker grew up in Averill Park, N.Y. and went on to become an Eagle Scout. He also graduated with honors from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and was employed at CELLTREAT Scientific Products in Pepperell, Mass.
