Nashua North student wins French Speech Contest
NASHUA – On March 16, Laura White, a student at Nashua High School North, was the winner of the regional French Speech Contest organized by the Richelieu Clubs of the United States.
She was the local Nashua winner of the contest for the Richelieu Club Nashua. The regional contest was held at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, Mass. The theme of the contest was: “If you had the chance to travel to a French-speaking country for a one-year study-abroad, which country would you choose and why?”
White competed against students from Manchester as well as from Lowell, Mass. and Salem, Mass. She received an award of $400 for her victory.
On March 20, the Francophonie flag was raised in front of the Nashua City Hall in the presence of Mayor James Donchess, John Tousignant, honorary consul of France for New Hampshire and Eric Drouart, president of the Richelieu Club of Nashua.
