NASHUA – The Sandy Cleary Community Art Gallery at the Nashua Center for the Arts will be hosting a public reception open to view the new Student Art Exhibition on April 9 from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Many of the students showing their work will be attending along with their teachers. The gallery is located in the concourse between the Main Street and West Pearl Street lobbies.

The gallery has completed a full year of rotating art shows. The new show is the second Student Art Exhibition, with more than 50 pieces of art by students from kindergarten to seniors in high school.

“Last year we were very impressed with the quality of the art by our local students and the enthusiasm and support of their teachers and families,” said gallery Curator Carol Robey. “Featuring student art is an important element in the Center’s community outreach program.”.

“We are excited to follow up Youth Art Month in the schools with another platform for our students to show their creativity,” said Meghan Durden, K-5 art district coordinator. “This exhibition at the Sandy Cleary Community Art Gallery highlights the importance of art education while celebrating the incredible talents of our young artists.”

“Our students are truly inspired by the opportunity to display their artwork at the Nashua Center for the Arts,” said Angela Walsh, secondary art head teacher for the Nashua School District. “It gives them a chance to showcase their work outside their school walls for the community to see.”

The gallery opened on April 1, 2023 and holds four rotating exhibitions annually. Each rotation is three months long. The other three rotations feature a mix of artwork by student, emerging and recognized local visual artists with a goal of reflecting the demographics of Nashua, the most diverse city in New Hampshire. A Call for Artists to exhibit and sell their work during the 2024-25 season is open until April 30. To apply go to www.nashuacommunityarts/gallery.
