Nashua Library continues Passport to the World Series

By Staff | Feb 24, 2024

NASHUA – Nashua residents know the library is a reliable destination for concerts and culture. Now, the library is drawing on Nashua’s rich diversity to take its concerts to the next level with an exciting new Passport to the World series.

The library will host events highlighting a country or city throughout the year. Each “passport” destination will feature live music or dance performances, a craft activity, and traditional food.

The series launched in January when the library’s Chandler Wing became a Parisian Café to celebrate French culture. On March 2 at 2 p.m. the series continues with Passport to Ukraine. The event features a performance by the Ludmila Koval Band, traditional Ukrainian crafts and free food.

“Our Passport to the World series builds connections between residents by offering a glimpse of other cultural experiences,” said Library Director Jennifer McCormack. “But this month’s Passport to Ukraine event is also a reminder that many of our neighbors are deeply affected by the ongoing war. We look forward to celebrating, uplifting, and learning more about Ukrainian culture together.”

The library is working closely with the Nashua-based New Hampshire School of Languages, Math and Art to bring authentic Ukrainian activities and food to the event. An American and Ukrainian flag signed by Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines of the war will also be on display.

Future events in the series include Passport to El Salvador on May 4 at 2 pm. With so many countries represented in the community, the library seeks help narrowing down this year’s inaugural events with a community vote. Residents can submit the name of a country or city they want the library to “travel” to by March 30 at nashualibrary.org/passport.
