NASHUA – Jose Gurley, 25, of Nashua was arrested on Jan. 26 in connection with the assault of a four-year-old boy.

According to police, officers responded to a medical emergency at an undisclosed location on Jan. 19. Upon arrival, officers reportedly found the boy with “serious head and facial injuries.” The boy’s identity and current condition have not been released.

During their investigation, officers learned that Gurley had fled to Maine. Working with the Maine State Police, officers caught up with him one week later when they located a vehicle associated with Gurley and connected it with a residence in Cornish, Maine.

He was subsequently charged with first degree assault and is currently being held at York County Jail awaiting transport back to New Hampshire.

Under state law, if convicted, Gurley could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $4,000.
