United Way launches laptop donation program to bridge digital divide

By Staff | Jan 11, 2024

NASHUA — The United Way of Greater Nashua recently announced the initiation of its laptop donation program, Tech Connect United, a community-driven effort aimed at addressing digital equity by providing access to technology for those in need.

The Tech Connect United program encourages individuals to donate their working laptops, tablets or smartphones to support the digital empowerment of the community. Donated devices will undergo a thorough data clearance process and will be expertly refurbished for distribution among various segments of the population, including children, job-seekers, college students and seniors.

“In today’s increasingly digital world, access to technology is essential for participation in education, employment, healthcare, and community engagement,” said Sara Ceaser, director of Volunteer and Community Engagement at the United Way. “Through this program, we hope to bridge the digital divide and empower individuals from all walks of life by providing them with the tools they need to thrive in a technology-driven society.”

The impact of digital equity extends across diverse sectors, including telehealth, job searching, access to essential services, community connection and educational endeavors. Tech Connect United recognizes the importance of leveling the playing field and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from the advantages of technology.

Tech Connect United is a Nashua based initiative committed to promoting digital equity by providing access to technology resources for underserved populations. Through partnerships with local organizations, Tech Connect United strives to bridge the digital divide and empower individuals to thrive in the digital age. This project is supported by Tech Spark Fellowship Grant Funding from Microsoft.

Devices can be dropped off the United Way office at 20 Broad St., in Nashua between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays or by appointment.
