AMHERST – The United Way of Greater Nashua will be hosting its next Coffee and Causes talk on Nov. 3 at 11:30 a.m. at the Amherst Town Library, 14 Main St. in Amherst.

Geared for seniors, the discussion will focus on veterans services.

Officers from the New Hampshire Division of Veterans Services will share ways in which they assist Granite State veterans and/or their dependents in securing federal or state veterans benefits. The officers provide free assistance to veterans or their family members in filing claims for compensation or pension benefits with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as well as providing assistance regarding state benefits, disability, compensation and pension, survivors’ benefits, burial benefits, education benefits, the State Veterans Cemetery and the New Hampshire Veterans Home.

Attendees will also learn about Operation Delta Dog. The Hollis-based organization rescues homeless dogs and trains them to be service dogs for veterans living with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Military Sexual Trauma.

Online registration is available at: https://tinyurl.com/Nov-Coffee.

Future talks will take place at various locations around the area and will include topics like Getting Back to Exercise, Loneliness and Depression, Falls Prevention and Talking to your Doctor.
