NASHUA – The state Medical Examiner’s Office recently identified the victim of the Oct. 5 fire at 86 Langholm Dr. as 80-year-old Judith Michael.
According to authorities, Michael died from smoke inhalation and determined that her death was accidental.
Two other residents, whose identities are still being withheld, were rescued from the single-family home and taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center before being transferred to a Boston hospital.
When fire crews arrived on the scene at 1:30 a.m., they encountered “heavy fire coming through the roof.” Once inside, hoarding conditions made it difficult for firefighters to maneuver. However, firefighters were able to knock down most of the flames within 20 minutes. A power line attached to the home also came down during the blaze. The hazard was later rectified by Eversource.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
