Grow Nashua teams with Tito’s Handmade Vodka for fourth year of Spring Street Community Garden improvements

By Staff | Sep 18, 2023

NASHUA – Love, Tito’s, the philanthropic heart of Tito’s Handmade Vodka, is once again working to support Grow Nashua as part of the Love, Tito’s Block to Block program. Grow Nashua is on a mission to help Nashua residents facing food insecurity by increasing the city’s food and environmental resilience through its various outreach programs.

Tito’s has been working with Grow Nashua to help bring fresh produce to the local community since 2020. For the past three years, the two groups have worked together to add three new urban community gardens to Nashua neighborhoods. These spaces have allowed families to grow their own fresh produce as well as the opportunity to build community with their neighbors.

This year’s project will be held on Sept. 26 from 2-5 p.m. at 1 Eldridge St. The project will help to provide necessary updates to the Spring Street Community Gardens, one of seven gardens that Grow Nashua maintains. Additionally, the funds from Tito’s will enable the nonprofit to continue expanding its newly launched program, Lil’ Free Farmstand. This program encourages resident gardeners to grow an extra row in their backyard gardens and then donate the veggies to Grow Nashua either through a donation station or an at-home pickup.

The produce is then shared throughout strategic spots in the city that lack adequate food access. These small acts of giving from more than 300 residents and support from Tito’s contributed to a huge impact of 20,000 pounds of fresh food shared with more than 1,800 neighbors.

Grow Nashua’s Spring Street Community Gardens will be getting a much-deserved makeover. Volunteers will work to repair and replace old wooden beds, improve irrigation setup, add soil amendments and mulch the area.
