Habitat for Humanity celebrates 25 years

By Staff | Oct 25, 2019

NASHUA – The local nonprofit, Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity, honors its 25th anniversary with a Dream Builders Gala on Nov. 8 at the Nashua Country Club. This magical evening will celebrate 25 years of growth and commitment to individuals and families in need.

Habitat for Humanity, locally and globally, works in partnership with corporations, community groups, faith-based organizations, and individuals to build affordable homes using volunteer labor and donated materials where possible. Habitat’s pursuit is to work with local partners to implement solutions and assist low to moderate income families to qualify for conventional mortgages by creating the opportunity for home ownership. The geographic areas in Southern New Hampshire that benefit from our local services include the following 14 communities: Located within Hillsborough County (Amherst, Brookline, Greenville, Hollis, Hudson, Lyndeborough, Mason, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon, Nashua, Pelham, Wilton) and Rockingham County (Windham).

The organization has provided new homes for 13 families in Hudson, Nashua, and Wilton, as well as helping many individuals and businesses with a wide range of critical repair needs. Their last completed build at the site of the former Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter, is now a duplex home for two happy moms and their children.

“Habitat’s 25th anniversary celebration is a chance to gather and reflect upon 25 inspirational years serving the Greater Nashua community – and a time to pay tribute to our families, volunteers, board members and staff for their dedicated commitment to our mission,” Executive Director Scott Slattery said.

Sponsorships and seats are still available and auction items are respectfully requested for the Dream Builders Gala on Nov. 8. Contact Development Coordinator Louise Smith for more information, 603-821-0376, or visit www.nashuahabitat.org.
