Pedestrian struck and reportedly killed on Nashua’s Amherst Street

NASHUA – A woman said to be in her 70s reportedly died early Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle described as a delivery van in front of 575 Amherst St.

The woman became trapped under the vehicle, according to reports from the scene, and as firefighters and medical personnel arrived they immediately began rescue operations with extrication tools and inflatable air bags.

A fire official at the scene said that the woman succumbed to her injuries shortly after crews rescued her. Nobody else was injured.

The incident happened on an access road just off Amherst Street that leads to Bridges by EPOCH at Nashua, an assisted living facility at 575 Amherst St.

Details, including the name of the woman and circumstances of the incident, remain pending as police continue their investigation.
