Corpus Christi Food Pantry is moving
Organization relocating from Franklin Street to Crown Street
NASHUA – The Corpus Christi Food Pantry has been serving Greater Nashua at 43 Franklin St. for close to 20 years, but will start 2018 in a new location at 3 Crown St., said Diana Lavash, a member of the Corpus Christi board
of directors.
“Our move is a win/win for both the pantry and the St. Stanislaus Parish, where we are currently located, in their basement,” Lavash said.
“The parish has grown and is in need of the space that we occupy. Our move will allow us to continue to help meet the needs of the people of Nashua.”
The new location, in the basement of the Infant Jesus Parish, is roughly the same size as their former home, she said, and they will be able to continue providing all the same programs to the same number of community
members.
In 2016, the food pantry had more than 4,500 visits from families or single people, and they all left with several bags of food, toiletries and basic cleaning supplies, according to the Corpus Christi March 2017 newsletter.
In addition, the organization’s Assistance Program provided nearly $60,000 to help prevent homelessness and hardship in the community with extra help supplying rent, utilities, dental care, bus fare, gas vouchers and eye care, the newsletter said.
The Corpus Christi Food Pantry will continue this work in the coming year, with the anticipated opening date of the Crown Street location slated for Jan. 22.
Before then, Lavash said, they still need to get a few more contractors into the space to finish getting everything set up.
Once the date has been finalized, they will announce a grand opening ceremony, which is still in the early planning stages.
They will continue operations at their present location until the move, but advise that they will be closed the week of Dec. 25.
