Man accused of molesting underage girl

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Feb 25, 2020

NASHUA – When Hudson police officers confronted Ghenton Doty outside his Barbara Lane home in November and allegedly noticed a “bulge” in the back of his waistband, they asked him if he was armed.

Doty said he wasn’t, but then allegedly admitted he was carrying a handgun, which, according to police reports, he indicated he had considered using to take his own life days earlier.

Doty then told police, the reports state, that he had “been going through a tough time” because of “what she accused him of doing” – an alleged reference to the underage family member who, the reports state, came forward the previous day with allegations that Doty had sexually assaulted her numerous times over the course of at least six months.

Officers at that point took Doty, 36, of 114 Barbara Lane, into custody, eventually charging him with a total of 10 offenses classified as extended-term felonies, each punishable by up to 30 years in prison, plus fines.

They include:

• Three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault – pattern, accusing him of “engaging in a pattern of sexual assault against (the alleged victim), who was under age 16,” through inappropriate touching, from Dec. 1, 2018 to May 1;

• Three counts, felonious sexual assault – victim under age 13, for allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with the alleged victim, who was 12 at the time, during the same time period;

• Two counts, aggravated felonious sexual assault – victim under age 13, for allegedly engaging in sexual acts with the alleged victim, also during the same time period;

• Two counts, aggravated felonious sexual assault – household member, for allegedly engaging in sexual acts with the alleged victim from May 20 to Nov. 30.

The grand jury for the February term of Hillsborough County Superior Court-South last week handed up the 10 indictments against Doty.

It’s not clear in court documents whether Doty was ordered to jail, or if he posted bail and was released pending his next court date.

According to Doty’s case summary, that next court date is March 4, when Doty is scheduled for arraignment on the charges as well as a dispositional hearing.
