Mine Falls Park Advisory Board dedicates bench honoring longtime member
NASHUA — The Mine Falls Park Advisory Board held a ceremony on June 6 to dedicate a commemorative bench in honor of longtime member Richard Gillespie. Gillespie passed away on Nov. 3, 2025 at the age of 78. Originally from Colchester, Vt., Gillespie graduated from South Burlington High School and went on to attend the University of Vermont, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in geology. Gillespie was a structural geologist for Stone & Webster Engineering and specialized in site studies of nuclear power plants. He also served six years in the Vermont National Guard and achieved the rank of second lieutenant. Mayor James Donchess was in attendance at the ceremony as well as Advisory Board President Stephen Kenney, other board members and Gillespie's family.
