Six months into his job as the city’s Right-To-Know coordinator, Neumann announces departure
Jesse Neumann
NASHUA – Attorney Jesse Neumann’s brief but fairly turbulent stint as the city’s first Right-to-Know coordinator is coming to an end.
Neumann, a member of the U.S. Navy, announced Tuesday that he has accepted an offer to “return to active duty as an officer in the Navy’s Judge Advocate General Corps.”
He said his departure date has not yet been determined, but it should become clearer once he receives the correction on his orders he has been waiting for.
The opening was posted to the city’s Website on May 27. It’s not known when Neumann provided notice to his superiors that he was leaving the post.
Neumann came on board in the midst of a pandemic that upended business as usual across the board, including at City Hall.
He clashed on occasion with a few city residents from time to time, most often with Berkley Street resident Laurie Ortolano, a Right-to-Know advocate who took the city to task over its property tax assessing practices.
The fact the position is posted on the city Website confirms that it plans to hire an attorney/Right-to-Know coordinator to succeed Neumann.
The details regarding qualifications, duties and other elements the position entails can be found under “city jobs” on the Website.
