Tough weekend for local NEIBL and NHCBL teams
It was a tough weekend for the local New England Independent and New Hampshire COVID Baseball Leagues.
Here’s a look:
NEIBL
ST. THOMAS SWEEPS AMHERST
The Sabers fell to 0-4 with 4-3 and 13-8 losses to the Saints. In Game 1, the Sabers got solid pitching from Sean Brennan and Jimmy Reel but managed just four hits.
In the nightcap, Bobby Henline, Brady Mason and Brandon Dufour each had two hits including a double.
Isaiah Gutierrez gave the Sabers three solid mound innings in the nightcap but the bullpen faltered, unable to hold a 7-4 lead.
Amherst takes on the Nashua Chiefs on Tuesday at the Ledge Street Field in Nashua at 6 p.m.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE DROPS TO 0-3
It was another tough defeat for HB, this one coming at the hands of Salem by an 8-2 count.
The locals look to get their first win at Keene on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
NHCBL
MERRIMACK FALLS TO 3-3
The locals dropped a 2-1 loss to the New Hampshire Prospects White at Harvey Woods Field, their third straight loss after a 3-0 start to the season.
Keegan Burke struck out eight over 4.2 innings, allowing just one run. Colin Burke went 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Mike Lyna took the loss on the mound after two-thirds of an inning.
Merrimack hosts Seacoast Silver today at 5:30 p.m. at Harvey Woods.
