“Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse,” written by Clement Clark Moore on Christmas Eve 1822, this poem truly brought St. Nicholas to the world. The message is spoken in languages now familiar to many area residents: Merry Christmas, Joyeus Noel, Feliz Navidad, Frohliche Weihnachten, Buon Natale, Feliz Natal and Krismasi Njema, among others. The Mailbag is blessed to be published this Christmas Eve 2017.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays, to all of Greater Nashua

By Chris Graham - Chris' Mailbag | Dec 24, 2017

“Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse,” written by Clement Clark Moore on Christmas Eve 1822, this poem truly brought St. Nicholas to the world. The message is spoken in languages now familiar to many area residents: Merry Christmas, Joyeus Noel, Feliz Navidad, Frohliche Weihnachten, Buon Natale, Feliz Natal and Krismasi Njema, among others. The Mailbag is blessed to be published this Christmas Eve 2017.

Material, ‘free fabric of creativity’

“I am paring down my fabric stash, and I have four boxes and a couple of partial bolts of fabric that need a new home,” writes Elaine I. of Nashua (LTR 2,690). “The fabric includes denim, lots of knits and some home decorating (no quilter’s cotton – I haven’t sorted that yet). They are all large pieces, some a couple of yards or more. I hope someone can take all of these off my hands!” Elaine is herself a poet, founder of the poetry group ‘Poets Unbound’ which meets in Nashua, a published author of novels and short fiction. Sounds like she would have enjoyed meeting Clement Moore. Also an accomplished seamstress, she has designed unique and original stuffed animals (which explains the abundance of assorted fabric), and small-scale metal sculptures. Anyone interested in the fabric should contact Elaine via email at: authorelaine@gmail.com.

Beautiful, tall glass vases; Stoneware plates

Now that her transition into an assisted living complex is complete, Patricia A. of Milford (LTR 3,348) – formerly of Nashua – is once again working with Bert the Picker of Nashua, sorting through household items hurriedly put into storage to expedite the move. Items include five tall glass vases: a 13-inch tall, clear, hand-blown glass vase made in Italy, 5 ½-inches wide at the top and narrowing to the base, with a diagonal, fluted design; two 11-inch vases; 1 square, with a vertical pattern reminiscent of Boston’s Zakum Bridge, the other fluted with scalloped top; a 9-inch tall round vase with a heavy blue-speckled base; and a 7-inch white bud vase with a gold top border (Lenox china look). Also, a set of four stoneware luncheon plates, pale-blue and light-orange borders, assorted country-floral design centers (Culinary Arts Studio Collection/microwave, freezer, dishwasher-safe). There are also two white, round serving plates. Patricia says “There will definitely be many more items coming in the very near future since I will never have use for all of these things and storage is costly and only makes sense if one plans on use in the future. My thanks to Bert, and to Chris’ Mailbag for such great help.” At Patricia’s request, interested parties should email: Christine.graham33@gmail.com and mention LTR 3,348. Bert the Picker has again offered to deliver these items in Nashua, and those offered by Patricia in the future.

Updates

n Carolyn B. of Nashua (LTR 2,575) writes “A short but warm thanks to Tony who so graciously provided for my need of a bar-type stool. His generosity will make my life easier to manage. Your readers provide the essence of Christmas on a year-round basis. God bless them and you Chris. Merry Christmas!”

….’and to all a good night!’
