BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Despite an early three-run lead, a sixth-inning grand slam sunk the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (17-25, 51-57) in their Wednesday day game at TD Bank Ballpark against the Somerset Patriots (20-21, 56-54), 7-4.

Third baseman Dub Gleed and center fielder Hedbert Perez both homered in the loss, as Gleed extended his hit streak to 13 consecutive games.

New Hampshire starter Nolan Perry twirled three innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts in his fourth Double-A start. Reliever TJ Brock followed with one run over 1-1/3 innings. Right-hander Angel Obando (L, 1-1) was tagged for four runs on three hits in 1-2/3 frames. Newcomer Daniel Guerra fired two innings and allowed a run in his Fisher Cats debut.

Somerset starter Trent Sellers allowed two runs on four hits in 1-1/3 innings. Reliever Harrison Cohen (W, 4-1) stifled the Fisher Cats across 2-1/3 frames and Geoffrey Gilbert (SV, 1) notched his first save of the season.

Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Somerset loaded the bases on a pair of walks and a single. With the bases juiced, second baseman Connor McGinnis (8) demolished a grand slam and made it 6-4.

The Patriots extended their lead in the seventh. With one out, third baseman Roderick Arias (1) mashed his first Double-A homer and extended Somerset’s lead, 7-4.

New Hampshire opened the scoring in the top of the first. With two outs, Gleed (9) swatted a solo homer to give the Fisher Cats an early 1-0 advantage. Following the homer, Perez walked and stole second. First baseman Carter Cunningham lined an RBI single and made it 2-0.

The Cats’ bats stayed hot in the third. Cunningham ripped a one-out double. Two batters later, shortstop Eric Snow cracked an RBI single which extended the Cats’ lead to three.

Somerset scored a run in the bottom of the fourth, but New Hampshire answered instantly. Perez (6) slugged a solo homer to kick off the fifth, his first since July 11. The Patriots responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly.

New Hampshire and Somerset continue their six-game series on Thursday with first pitch slated for 6:35 PM. RHP Austin Cates (1-4, 5.06 ERA) will start for the Fisher Cats, while Somerset sends the 30-year-old Yankees lefty Carlos Rodón to the mound for his second rehab start.
