NASHUA – The first fallout from the Nashua Silver Knights disappointing season has taken place as the team announced field manager Nick Guarino has stepped down.

Knights general manager Cam Cook said that Guarino wanted to focus more in his pitching coach/assistant role at his alma mater of Southern Connecticut, and that included recruiting as well.

But the move is not a surprise, as Guarino was non-committal at the end of this season after posting consecutive non-playoff marks of 26-34 and 23-35.

Cook however, did say Guarino was welcome to return as manager if things regarding roster departures, etc. were discussed and worked out. He even left the the door open for the former Silver Knights pitcher to return in a lesser role down the road if he ever wanted to.
