MANCHESTER – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (16-21, 50-54) dropped their Friday night contest at Delta Dental Stadium against the Portland Sea Dogs (21-16, 56-49), 7-4. Second baseman Eric Snow tallied his first Double-A hit and designated hitter Aaron Parker walloped his 13th home run of the season.

Fisher Cats’ starter Austin Cates struck out six and allowed one run but only tossed 3-2/3 innings. Reliever Angel Obando followed with 2-2/3 innings of two-run ball and fellow reliever Kelena Sauer (L, 1-3) suffered the loss as the right-hander was tagged for four runs in 1-2/3 innings.

Sea Dogs starter Devin Futrell pitched five innings and allowed eight hits and four runs with five strikeouts in his Double-A debut. Reliever Patrick Halligan (W, 3-3) struck out two and Jeremy Wu-Yelland (S,1) notched a six-out save.

Trailing 4-1 in the seventh, the Sea Dogs’ offense exploded for six runs. Portland loaded the bases on walks from second baseman Ahbram Liendo and right fielder Will Turner, and a single hit by first baseman Brooks Brannon. Following a strikeout, shortstop Yoeilin Cespedes worked a bases loaded walk. Catcher Nate Baez smacked a two-run single which tied the game. One batter later, center fielder Miguel Bleis clobbered a three-run home run which gave the Sea Dogs a three-run advantage, 7-4.

Portland struck first in the top of the third inning. With one out, Brannon (18) mashed a solo homer and pushed the Sea Dogs out in front.

In the bottom of the third, New Hampshire loaded the bases. Right fielder Alexis Hernandez singled home Snow which tied the game. Two batters later, center fielder Hedbert Perez ripped an RBI single and gave the Cats the lead, 2-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Cats’ infielder Nick Goodwin banged a double. Three hitters later, Parker launched a two-run homer which extended New Hampshire’s lead.

The Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs continue their six-game series on Saturday, August 8 with a 6:03 p.m. first pitch. Right-hander Danny Thompson Jr. (0-1, 2.70 ERA) will start for New Hampshire and Portland will counter with lefty Michael Sansone (3-1, 4.58 ERA).
