It may have been a beautiful Friday in the Nashua area, but not so a few hours to the northwest in Burlington, Vt.
As a result, the Nashua Silver Knights scheduled game at Delta Dental Diamond at Centennial Field vs. the FCBL first place Vermont Lake Monsters (12-7) was rained out.
There was no immediate word on a makeup date. Nashua (9-11) is next at Vermont on Thursday, July 2, but also visits there on Sunday, July 19 and the regular season finale on Saturday, Aug. 8.
Either way, the Silver Knights found themselves with two-thirds of a weekend off. Nashua is off today and will get back at it on Sunday with the Knights’ annual 3 p.m. Father’s Day Game at Historic Holman Stadium, famous for its necktie giveaway
and fathers and kids can play catch on the field after the game. The Worcester Bravehearts, who beat Nashua in back-to-back games at Fitton Field last weekend, will provide the opposition.
In fact, the Silver Knights are in a stretch thanks to the rainout with no game in three out of four days as they also have this Monday off. They head back to Lowell to face the Spinners on Tuesday night to begin a stretch of eight games in eight days.
