NASHUA – Butch is back – again. Or will be.

Popular former Nashua Pride manager Butch Hobson, who guided the team on the field from 2000-2007, will be a special guest at the Futures Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game at Historic Holman Stadium on Tuesday, July 21, the Nashua Silver Knights announced on Friday.

Hobson, the Knights said in a social media statement, will be returnng as part of an effort that night “to celebrate the league’s top talent and the legacy of the game in the Gate City.”

Hobson, the former Red Sox player and manager, was immensely popular during his time in Nashua and will be making his second return to the city in just over a year. Arguably the highlight of the Silver Knights season last year was his return to the city as the Knights honored the Nashua Pride’s legacy late last June. He was also inducted into the Nashua Lions Club’s Sports Legends of Holman Stadium Hall of Fame.

“We called him a couple of weeks ago and it was the same as whenwe called him for the Pride event last year,” Silver Knights general manager Cam Cook said. “He couldn’t have been more flattered and excited to come back to Nashua.

“He really views this place as home in a lot of ways.”

As has been announced, Red Sox World Series standout from 2012, Jonny Gomes, will be on hand for the event as well. Cook says the team is working on bringing back other special guests, “similar to the Pride game last season” but that nothing has been confirmed.

But the return of Hobson will no doubt add a further spark to the event.
