GOALIE POWER: Riv’s Imbriano, Lydon cop GNAC awards

NASHUA – First-year goalkeeper Arrianna Imbriano has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Imbriano recorded 28 saves with a 59.6 save percentage and a 9.50 goals against average in between the pipes for the Raiders this week. The Stoneham, Mass. product began the week stopping nine shots in a back-and-forth matchup with Emmanuel (Mass.) Imbriano added a career-best 19 save performance against Saint Joseph (Conn.) Saturday afternoon.

Imbriano and the women’s lacrosse team return to action Wednesday, Mar. 18 for a non-conference contest with Fitchburg St. The opening draw is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Joanne Merrill Field.

LYDON DOES IT AGAIN

Rivier men’s lacrosse sophomore goalkeeper Jake Lydon has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season after helping the Raiders to a 1-0 week in non-conference action, keeping Rivier a perfect 4-0 on the year.

Lydon made 13 saves while allowing just three goals in the squad’s 9-3 victory over VTSU-Castleton on Mar.10, while also collecting three ground balls in the win.

The Rowley, Mass., native currently leads the GNAC in total goals allowed (18), goals-against average (4.60), and save percentage (75.3%), which also ranks him second nationally.

Lydon and the Raiders return to action with a non-conference matchup against Salem State today at Joanne Merrill Field at 4 p.m.
