Garrett Bradbury enjoyed his first year in a New England Patriots uniform as the team’s starting center.

It turns out it’s going to be his only year.

The Patriots reportedly have agreed to trade the veteran Bradbury, who started and played in all 21 games for the AFC champions, including Super Bowl LX, to the Chicago Bears for a fifth round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

The deal becomes official when the league year begins this Wednesday.

The move was made likely in mind with the idea of moving Jared Wilson, who played left guard his rookie season, to center, the position he played in college. With Wilson at guard and Will Campbell at tackle, the Patriots had two rookies starting on the left side of the line.

Bradbury, who had played with the Vikings before becoming a free agent, said at the Super Bowl that the chance to play for Patriots coach Mike Vrabel and with QB Drake Maye were key recruiting points.

“Coach Vrabel was the first thing that stuck out,” he said. “Talking to him over the phone, just hearing his vision that he had for this program. I had some teammates who played for him in Tennessee, and they had nothing but great things to say about him. And all those things rang true. It’s been a cool experience to learn from him and play for him.”

As for Maye, Obviously Drake, that was an enticing piece,” Bradbury said. “You’ve got to have that position in this league. It’s been a really rewarding year.”

If Wilson is moved to center, now the Patriots have to search for a starting left guard.

DEVITO RE-UPS

The Patriots will likely have the same QB room they had last season as third string QB Tommy DeVito and the team agreed to a two-year deal worth, according to ESPN, $7.4 million, some $3 million in incentives.

In re-upping for two years, DeVito gives up the chance to be an unrestricted free agent in 2027. The Patriots have Josh Dobbs and DeVito backing up Maye heading into the 2026 league year. Reportedly $2 million of the deal for DeVito is guaranteed.
