Rivier Roundup: A split for lacrosse; men’s volleyball bows

NASHUA – The Rivier men’s lacrosse team downed non-conference opponent Curry College 11-3 on Saturday afternoon on Joanne Merrill Field.
With the result, the Raiders improved to 2-0, while the Colonels started their season 0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the opening 15 minutes, the score remained deadlocked at 0-0 with shots even at six apiece.Sophomore Tyler Zehr broke the stalemate 9:19 into the second frame off a feed from sophomore Liam Conley.
Just 2:03 later, senior Sean Callinan doubled the Raiders’ lead with an assist from first-year Aiden Conley.Aiden Conley netted one of his own with 3:18 remaining in the half to extend Rivier’s advantage to 3-0.
On a man-up opportunity 1:22 later, first-year Andrew Nee found the back of the net, connecting with Callinan. With five seconds left in the frame, Aiden Conley tallied his second of the contest, sending the Raiders into the break with a 5-0 lead.
First-year Conor Walsh pushed the lead to six at the 8:37 mark of the third, linking up with junior Cole Ronalter.The Conley brothers connected for the seventh goal as Aiden buried a feed from Liam. Callinan recorded his second of the day with 2:22 left in the third, finishing an assist from Nee.
Zehr opened the fourth-quarter scoring, connecting with Nee to make it 9-0.
Curry got on the board at the 9:59 mark of the fourth. Liam Conley blasted home his second of the game with 5:23 remaining. The Colonels added their second with 3:41 left in the period.
First-year Colin Foley joined the scoring to restore the nine-goal advantage at 11-2. Curry closed out the scoring in the final seconds to bring the game to an 11-3 final.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
Sophomore Jake Lydon made seven saves, and junior Lucas Fitts made two.
Foley caused a team-high five turnovers. Senior Owen McDuffie picked up a team-high nine groundballs. Adien Conley led the Raiders in points with four.

The Raiders are back in action for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest against Dean at Joanne Merrill Field at 1 p.m.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
SALEM STATE 8, RIVIER 6
The Rivier women’s lacrosse team fell in the season opener to non-conference opponent Salem St. at Joanne Merrill Field.
With the result, the Raiders begin the 2026 campaign 0-1, while the Vikings start their season 1-0.
The Vikings took a 3-0 lead after the first 15-minutes of play.
Salem St. extended their lead at the 10:59 mark of the second period.
Sophomore Ashlynn Ledoux buried the first goal of the 2026 season on a free-position attempt at the 8:46 mark.
On another free position attempt, senior Sofia Cebrero cut the deficit in half,4-2. With 41 seconds remaining before the break, first-year Kaycie Hudon buried her first collegiate goal off a feed from Cebrero, trimming the deficit to 4-3.
The Vikings scored two consecutive goals to begin the third period to extend the lead to 6-3. Sophomore Brooke Carter scored at the 8:38 mark.
Salem St responded 1:05, another pair of goals to double their lead 8-4
Hudon tallied her second of the day with 2:11 left.
Cebrero capped the scoring in the fourth to cut the deficit to two at the 13:36 mark, 8-6.
In her first collegiate start, first-year Arrianna Imbriano recorded four saves…Cebrero led in points with three….First-year Hayleigh Young caused a team-high five turnovers.
The Raiders are back in action for a non-conference contest at Nichols on Wednesday on Vendetti Field at 7 p.m.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
MIT 3,RIVIER 0
The Raiders fell in straight sets to non-conference opponent No. 17 MIT at Rockwell Cage. With the loss, the Raiders fell to 8-9, while the Engineers improved to 13-3.
Rivier opened the match with a kill by senior Matthew McCloskey to trade early points before MIT utilized an eight-point run to establish an 18-7 lead. The Raiders responded with a 9-1 scoring run, highlighted by a service ace from junior Aidan Combs and a kill from McCloskey, to pull within three at 19-16. The teams exchanged sideouts for the remainder of the frame until a service error ended the set 25-20 in favor of the Engineers.
MIT took an early lead in the second set and used a 12-4 run to extend its advantage to 21-8. Junior Tyler Dickinson ended the streak with a kill before Rivier added points through a pair of errors. The Engineers maintained the gap, using a final 4-1 spurt to secure the set 25-11.
The third set featured six ties and two lead changes. The Raiders took an early 4-1 lead following a block by Dickinson and junior Kody Sodoyer. The Raiders stayed ahead through the middle of the frame, using kills from sophomore James Levesque and first-year Everett Boyer to hold an 11-8 edge. After MIT rallied to take the lead, Levesque recorded another kill to tie the score at 22-22, but the Engineers regained the advantage late to clinch the match, 25-23.
Dickinson led the Raiders with six kills and a .600 hitting percentage.
Levesque added three kills, hitting at a .400 clip. Junior Justin Barish logged 17 assists.
The Raiders return to action Tuesday, March 10, for a rematch with non-conference opponent RV Endicott. The opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at MacDonald Gymnasium.
