Rivier Roundup: Several Raiders earn conference awards

NASHUA – Goffstown’s Robenson Baguidy helped guide his team to a 1-1 week and earned himself the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week.
The senior guard averaged 26.5 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the field. During the Raiders 1-1 stretch, Baguidy also posted seven rebounds, 1.5 assists and two steals per contest.
He opened the week by playing all 40 minutes in a victory over Emmanuel (Mass.), finishing with 26 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Baguidy followed that performance by netting a career-high 27 points in a conference matchup against Dean, shooting an efficient 58 percent from the floor and bringing down five rebounds.
Baguidy and the Raiders continue conference play on Wednesday when they host Mitchell College at 6 p.m. at the Muldoon Center.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
DICKINSON GNAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK
After recording 14 total blocks this past weekend at the SUNY Poly Invitational, junior middle blocker Tyler Dickinson has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Dickinson opened the season with a five-block performance against RV Nazareth, while tacking on seven kills and a .700 hitting percentage.
The Lincoln, R.I. native tallied another nine blocks in day two of the invitational. He began the day with three blocking assists against No. 3 Juniata and added another six total blocks, three solo, in the 3-2 reverse sweep win over SUNY Poly.
Dickinson and the rest of the Rivier men’s volleyball team return to the court Saturday for a non-conference tri-match with Curry and Adrian. The opening serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
KRAUSS, KELLEY HONORED BY MASCAC
After helping lead the Raiders to a 3-1 victory over Nichols, Rivier women’s ice hockey first-years Emily Krauss and Mary Kelley were recognized by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), earning Goalie and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.
Between the pipes, Krauss turned away 46 shots on a .979 save percentage, only allowing one goal.
Kelley paced the offense with two assists and a plus-2 rating. Following the performance, she now leads the MASCAC in plus/minus at +14.
Krauss, Kelley, and the Raiders return to action following their bye week on Friday, Jan. 23, at Conway Arena, with puck drop set for 7:40 p.m.
