Rivier women skaters blanked by SUNY Potsdam, 2-0

NASHUA – The Rivier women’s ice hockey team was shutout Friday evening in a non-conference matchup with SUNY Potsdam at Conway Arena.

With the loss, the Raider fell to 5-4-0, while the Bears improved to 4-4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Both squads battled in the opening frame, with Rivier holding a slight advantage in shots on target, 9-7. Despite both teams recording multiple chance, the contest remained scoreless after the first 20 minutes.

The Bears broke the deadlock in the second period, tucking in a shot from the slot 6:25 into the frame. Potsdam recorded what would be the games’ final tally with 8:43 remaining in the period.

Down two in the final 20 minutes of action, the Raiders recorded 12 shots on goal, but were unable to convert, sealing the 2-0 victory for the Bears.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN

As a team, Rivier outshot Potsdam 51-45 (29-20 shots on target)…Junior Rebecca McKelvey led the team with five shots on goal…Senior Molly Dukesherer and first-year Chloe Bryda followed close behind with three shots on target each…Junior goaltender Taylor Bruno logged 18 saves in net.
