Morrier’s two goals lead Rivier women’s soccer to 4-1 win

HENNIKER – The Rivier women’s soccer team earned a 4-1 victory over New England College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Tuesday afternoon at Don Melander Field.
With the result, the Raiders improved to 8-4-2 (7-1-1 GNAC) on the season, while the Pilgrims fell to 4-8-2 (1-6-2 GNAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate student Samantha Franks opened the scoring for the Raiders in the 26th minute on a feed from Cadence Ryan
The Pilgrims responded late in the first half, leveling the score.
However, first-year Bailey Gatchell connected with first-year Keira Bretagne to notch her first collegiate goal and sophomore Leah Morrier added another goal 24 seconds later, giving Rivier a 3-1 advantage.
Morrier recorded her second tally in the closing minutes of the game to cap the score, 4-1

Rivier held the advantage on corner kick opportunities, 9-1…The Raiders outshot the Pilgrims, 34-11, with 22 shots on goal.
