Ahhh, it’s like old times with Patriots playing Sunday Night
Some questions might be answered tonight.
As in just how good are these New England Patriots?
We may find out when they visit Buffalo tonight. These Prime Time Patriots, we remember the years when Sunday Night Football appearances were the norm, not the exception.
Instead, it’s the Bills who get the limelight, along with the Chiefs. Maybe the Ravens.
The Patriots will have two home prime time games, the obligatory Thursday night game vs. the Jets on Nov. 12, and the Giants come to Gillette Stadium on Monday Night Football Dec. 1. It will be the holiday season.
But there’s no holiday tonight. The Bills are still searching to break through to the Super Bowl. The Patriots are just looking to break through to respectability.
“I think (the Bills) have a program in place, and they certainly building that. Credit to Brandon (Bills GM Beane) and Sean (coach McDermott) of the types of players that they bring in and the ones that they develop and it’s very successful.”
If other coaches are talking about Vrabel and the Patriots front office this way, then we’ll be back watching them more often on Sunday Night.
Let’s see who wins some key games:
BILLS 30, PATRIOTS 27
It comes down to a final field goal to avoid overtime. The Patriots mak their statement, that they are ready to be a thorn in Buffalo’s side going forward. Allen & Co. just have a knack for winning by the lake. We say home field is the major difference.
RAVENS 17, TEXANS 10
No Lamar Jackson for Ravens. Bad offense for Texans.Go with the under, and since they’re home, go with the Ravens.
JAGS 24, CHIEFS 17
Yes, you are reading correctly. This is our upset special. Hey, why not. Jacksonville seems like a different team this year and this is their and Trevor Lawrence’s chance to prove that they are on the way back to what they were in their brief time as playoff contenders a few years ago. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.
BUCS 27, SEAHAWKS 24
Another thriller, but Seattle sports have had a good run. OK, enough. Baker Mayfield is coming to town, looking to bounce back from that Eagles game, and he doesn’t lose close games these days.
SAINTS 27, GIANTS 17
It’s the only all-NFC game left on the docket. Jackson Dart was good in his debut, but you’re not thinking the Giants, now without Malik Nabers, will be able to score a ton of points. Saints are usually good at home vs. bad teams.
CHARGERS 20, COMMANDERS 17
Good one in L.A. Chargers suffered some injury losses while the Commanders have Jayden Daniels returning, so why not go with Washington? H & H. Home field and Harbaugh (Jim).
EAGLES 27, BRONCOS 17
Close one but again it’s in Philly. Bo Nix will have problems against the Eagles pass rush, and the Eagles convincing run in their title defense continues.
LAST WEEK: 4-3
REGULAR SEASON: 17-11
