NASHUA — Rivier field hockey junior Sophia Quinlan was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Raiders to a 1-1 (1-1 GNAC) week with three defensive saves, the conference announced Monday.

The Salem native made her first defensive save of the week in Wednesday’s 1-0 GNAC victory over Regis (Mass.), preserving the Raiders’ lead in the second quarter.

She followed up with two more defensive saves in Saturday’s matchup against Saint Joseph’s (Me.), tying her career-high for a single game.

Quinlan and the Raiders return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 1, when they travel to Lasell for a GNAC showdown. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Grellier Field.
