HAPPY JUNE! Now here’s a way you can enjoy the month

Welcome, June.
You can’t be any worse than May was for weather, as we were expected to have yet another soggy Saturday. Let’s get rid of this trend this month, OK? Wev’e got high school toureny games to play.
In any event, here’s a look at the key dates of this month as we transition from spring to summer:
MONDAY, JUNE 2
The team tennis tournament chugs on, with the boys semifinals in all divisions. In Division II, we think you’ll see Hollis Brookline heading to face No. 2 Winnacunnet, and that could be it. But who knows? It was a better boys season than we thought it would be.
TUESDAY, JUNE 3
Welcome to the first busy day of the high school post season, with the girls semifinals – Souhegan and Alvirne should be in Division II action if they survived the quarters, Alvirne possibly on the road and the unbeaten Sabers at home (Camp Young Judea in Amherst).
It’s also the first day of the girls lacrosse tourney, but only a couple if any locals will be in action.
Also, get ready for perhaps the biggest crowd of the Silver Knights season: Education Day 2, which by all accounts has been a sellout for weeks. Yikes, Yellow Bus Day times 10.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4
Will Hollis Brookline be in the Division II finals? If so it’s a drive to Dover for yours trul, while the softball prelims will also be taking place.
It’s also Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals: Brad Marchand vs. Connor McDavid, otherwise known as Florida Panthers vs. Edmonton Oilers. We say McDavid comes out on top. What say you, Bruins fans? How painful would it be to see Marchand win a Cup?
THURSDAY, JUNE 5
Busiest Thursday of the spring season, with the baseball and boys lacrosse prelims, plus the girls tennis finals. We feel strongly that Souhegan will be making a run at the Division II title this day. And win it. The finals are at Alvirne.
It’s also the first night of the NBA Finals. No Celtics. Bummer for many. It’s OKC vs. Indiana. Bleh. The over-under each game for combined points will be 2,156.
FRIDAY, JUNE 6
Brock Holt Night at Holman Stadium. The popular former Sox multi-positional player will be making an appearance when the Silver Knights take on two-time defending champion Norwich at Holman Stadium. The team hasn’t had many of these over the years since the mid 2000-teens, but have stepped up their promotions for 2025.
And, right on cue, it’s the first Red Sox-Yankees meeting of the season, this one the opener of a three-game weekend set at Yankee Stadium.
SATURDAY, JUNE 7
The busiest day of the high school sports season: quarterfinals in baseball, softball, boys lacrosse plus semifinals in girls lacrosse. It doesn’t get any busier than that. Local athletic directors, give us some creative times so we media can be in two places at once.
Also, it’s the date of the Belmont Stakes, once again being held at Saratoga with the Belmont track being renovated. Will Journalism take two of three Triple Crown races?
SUNDAY, JUNE 8
It’s the annual Meet of Champions, outdoor track’s big showcase of individual talent. It’s set for noon at Oyster River HS in Durham.
MONDAY, JUNE 9
Nashua North and South high school hockey players, head over the Conway Arena at 6 p.m. with your parents to talk with the coaches, and Nashua AD Lisa Gingras, etc. as the new Nashua hockey co-op is official, as is the girls co-op with Souhegan. Should be interesting.
What will also be interesting is the start of the annual New England Patriots mandatory minicamp in Foxborough, the fields behind Gillette. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and then that’s it for the spring workouts. The next time you see the Sons of Mike Vrabel will be in late July for training camp.
TUESDAY, JUNE 10
It’s the girls lacrosse finals in Division I and II, the former at Exeter’s Bill Ball Stadium and the latter at Stellos. The odds are we’ll have a local in one or both of these games, but we’ll see.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11
Another busy one. Baseball semis (Division I is at Holman, BG could have a shot), softball semis up at Plymouth State, boys lacrosse semis (Bill Ball Stadium, Bedford, Laconia), yikes, what else?
THURSDAY, JUNE 12
Father’s Day Weekend is approaching, so that must mean the start of the U.S. Open Golf Championship. This one will be at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., a famiiar Open site. Enjoy.
SATURDAY, JUNE 14
Finals Day. Baseball at Manchester’s Delta Dental Stadium. Softball up at PSU.Boys lacrosse at Bill Ball, Bulldog, or Bank of NH Stadiums, boys volleyball at Nashua North. How does one clone oneself? Anyone? Anyone?
MONDAY-TUESDAY, JUNE 16
New Hampshire Senior Legion Baseball opens up, and District B will have two locals as Merrimack Post 98, as of last look, is set to return after taking a year away. Nashua is at Londonderry on Monday, while Portsmouth is at Merrimack on Tuesday. And the fun begins.
SATURDAY-SUNDAY, JUNE 21-22
Welcome to the annual New Hampshire Decathlon-Heptathlon, set for Nashua South’s Fran Tate Track. Always a fun event. Will a local capture either event this year? Stay tuned.
And, later Sunday will be the sixth annual New Hampshire High School Girls Hockey Invitational All-Star Games, with the freshman-sophomore game first around 5 p.m. and the junior-senior game at 7 p.m. The brainchild of former Silver Knights/Lowell Spinners VP and current Nashua businessman Jon Goode has grown in popularity — and talent — each year.
FRIDAY, JUNE 27
Good grief what a night. It’s the annual CHaD East-West All-Star Football game, with locals galore, 6 p.m. at Saint Anselm’s Grappone Stadium.
But also it’s perhaps the biggest night of the Silver Knights promotional season: Turn Back the Clock/Nashua Pride Night. Nashua’s longtime independent professional baseball team will be honored, and its most successful manager, Butch Hobson, will be returning to manage an inning or two, maybe more.
What a night. What a month.
