The diamond seasons ended for the Rivier softball and baseball teams on Saturday.

The Raider softball team lost a heartbreaker vs. Albertus Magnus in GNAC Pod Play at Raider Diamond, while baseball dropped two in pod play in Connecticut.

SOFTBALL

ALBERTUS MAGNUS 3, RIVIER 2

Hannah Muchemore and Kylee Caetano (two hits) drove in the Raider runs, while Kayla Myles added two hits for the Raiders. However, Albertus rallied from down 2-0 with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Hailey Berube took the loss in the circle for the Raiders, allowing all three earned runs on seven hits, striking out four over six frames. Rivier winds up a highly successful season at 22-15.

The loss marks an end to the Raider athletic career of Muchemore of Nashua, who was also a standout in basketball and was playing softball for the first time since middle school.

BASEBALL

RAIDERS FALL TWICE

River bowed to Mitchell 23-2 and then were eliminated at the hands of Lasell 6-4 in New London, Conn.

Against Mitchell, Kyle Hsu (two hits) and A. Gallicano drove in the Raider runs while Nate Bonacorsi lasted just a third of an inning in allowing eight runs to take the loss.

Lasell then avenged Friday’s loss to the Raiders, who led 3-1 after one and 4-2 after two, only to see the Lasers score three in the fourth to grab the lead plus an insurance run in the seventh.

Jake O’Connor went six innings and took the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits while striking out five with no walks.

Offensively, Dylan Aliberti drove in two runs while the other RBIs were from Nathan Innerfeld (double) and Sebastian Reis.

Riv finishes up the season at 15-19 overall, but their late April winning streak got them over .500 in the conference and qualify for pod play.
