CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Rivier women’s lacrosse team, led by 10 points from senior Sarah Lachance, was victorious over Elms in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action in Tuesday night’s season finale.

The Raiders concluded their campaign with an 8-6 overall record and a 7-4 mark against conference opponents. The Blazers wrapped up their campaign with a 2-11 (2-9 GNAC) mark.

Rivier trailed 5-3 heading into the second quarter before scoring seven goals and allowing just one to take a 10-6 lead going into halftime. Four of the seven goals in that span were scored on man-up opportunities.

The Raiders went on to outscore Elms by an 8-1 margin in the final 30 minutes of action to pull away with the double-digit victory.

Lachance capped off her impressive collegiate career with 10 points, scoring four goals and adding six assists, while notching 10 draw controls, two ground balls, and causing two turnovers. Classmate Cassie Hemmerdinger scored a pair of goals on two shots while also causing three turnovers, securing three ground balls, and earning a draw control in her final game. Sophomore Sofia Cebrero wrapped up a stellar sophomore campaign by adding five additional goals and an assist to her season stats. First-years Brooke Carter and Ashlynn Ledoux each recorded hat tricks as sophomore Hannah Raab recorded her first collegiate goal.

Rivier will look to return to the GNAC Tournament in 2026.

SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH EMMANUEL

After being blanked in game one, the Rivier softball team edged out Emmanuel (Mass.), 4-3, in game two of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) North Division twin bill on Tuesday night at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston.

The Raiders moved to 15-13 (7-3 GNAC) with the decisions. The host Saints now sit at 12-20 (10-2 GNAC).

Rivier returns home today for a GNAC North doubleheader against Anna Maria. First pitch from Raider Diamond is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Saints took the lead in the top of the fourth, capitalizing on a pair of Rivier errors to lead 1-0. Emmanuel doubled its lead with a solo homer to center in the sixth off the bat of the pitcher Madison Marks.

Marks pitched a complete-game shutout, with five strikeouts to her credit. The Raiders were limited to three hits in the opening game of the evening.

Rivier got out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, with junior Olivia Couto notching an RBI double to left before an Emmanuel error pushed the Raiders’ second run across. The Saints got one back on an RBI groundout in the bottom half to make it 2-1.

It wasn’t until the sixth inning that Rivier would add to its lead, scoring twice on two RBI base hits. Senior Courtney Marioles, the Rivier starting pitcher, helped herself out with an RBI double down the left field line. Junior Kylee Caetano then singled through the left side to make it 4-1.

In their final at bats of the game, the Saints scored twice on a bases-clearing double with two outs, but that would be the extent of the scoring as a ground out ended the contest.

Six different Raiders recorded base hits, with Couto recording a pair with one RBI and one run scored.

Marioles dealt a complete-game, allowing just two earned runs on six hits and no walks while striking out one batter.
