The New England Patriots didn’t take long in finding a replacement for veteran captain and center David Andrews.
They reportedly have signed center Garrett Bradbury, who was recently released by the Minnesota Vikings after six seasons. Bradbury was inked to a reported two-year deal worth at leas $12 million, with $3.8 guaranteed.
Last season Bradbury, who will turn 30 in June, started all 18 games, including one in the playoffs, for the Vikings.
He was a first round draft pick (18th overall) by the Vikings out of North Carolina State in 2019. That was actually the highest the Vikings had ever drafted an interior lineman, according to the Associated Press. He made 88 out of a possible 100 regular season starts. He’s been durable, but not known as the greatest pass blocker (48.2 grade by Pro Football Focus.
This wasn’t a surprise, as the Patriots likely had an eye on Bradbury, knowing he could be released, when they cut Andrews. New England wanted to get younger at the position while still filling it with some experience, and Bradbury fits the slot.
