UNH Hockey: Men fall to Maine in shootout; women edged by BU

ORONO, Maine – Senior forward Conor Lovettscored for the Wildcats as the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team tied No. 5 Maine, 1-1, on Friday night at Alfond Arena in the Border Battle presented by Buffalo Wild Wings. Maine won the shootout, 2-0, to earn the extra point in the Hockey East standings.
Junior goalie Jared Whale (Calgary, Alberta) made 17 saves for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats are now 11-12-4 (3-11-3 Hockey East), while the Black Bears are 18-5-5 (10-3-5 Hockey East).
The ‘Cats will conclude the two-game series at Alfond today at 7 p.m. on NESN and ESPN+.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
BU 2, UNH 1
Junior Alyson Hush scored her eighth goal of the season but the Wildcats fell to 12th-ranked Boston University at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.
Sophomore goaltender Sedona Blair made 18 saves.
Senior Marina Alvarezand graduate assistant captain Chavonne Truter each recorded an assist on the goal scored by Hush.
Christina Vote and Maggie Hanzel each scored a goal for the Terriers, while goalie Callie Shanahan made 21 saves.
UNH moves to 15-15-1 overall and 11-13-0 in Hockey East while BU is now 21-9-1, 18-5-1.
UNH and BU face off again today at 4 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena.
