Josh McDaniels returning as Patriots offensive coordinator
Multiple reports say that Josh McDaniels will be returning to Foborough for his third stint as the New England Patriots offensive coordinator as part of new head coach Mike Vrabel’s staff.
McDaniels was fired midway through the 2023 season as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders and did not coach anywhere this past season.
But the job of Patriots OC was always a role McDaniels, who also had a failed head coaching stint in Denver, has seen his most success. He was first the Patriots coordinator in 2006-2008, and enjoyed the record offense the Patriots with Tom Brady and Randy Moss put together in 2007. Then, after being fired in Denver and then working with the then-St. Louis Rams, McDaniels returned in 2012 for a long stint before being lured away by the Raiders in the 2022 off-season to be their head coach. He lasted a year and a half.
