The Juan Soto decision has been made. Soto, it was reported by the MLB Network and ESPN Sunday night, has agreed to a 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets, leaving AL East rivals the Yankees and Red Sox in the lurch.
The report ends weeks of speculation ever since the end of the World Series, when Soto announced all 32 teams would have a chance to bid for his slugging services.
It is said to be the richest deal in the history of sports.
It came down to the Mets, Boston Red Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays and of course his 2024 team, the New York Yankees, duking it out with incredible offers to see who would land him in a deal that could possibly approach $800 million.
