Something’s got to give in this Patriots-Jets co-disaster

By The Associated Press - | Oct 27, 2024

What is this NFL world coming to?

The New England Patriots are 1-6 today hosting the 2-5 New York Jets, and this is one of the more intriguing games on the schedule.

Why? Because there’s so much drama this is like a bad reality TV show.

Poor Jerod Mayo. He’s personable, expressive, yet has diarrhea of the mouth. He just needs to go in, talk about his team, keep it vanilla, etc. There is a happy medium between MayoSpeak and BelichickSpeak. But the more he keeps opening his mouth, the more he seems in over his head, along with his staff.

Now, as for the visiting team. The Jets last win was against, yup, these same Patriots. They’ve lost four straight. The coach who guided them to that win over New England back in mid-September is hanging out with his old college roomie in Green Bay.It’s an incredible disaster.

So today, something’s got to give. The Patriots could give an inspired performance. Or the Jets could just finally wake up from their fall slumber and stick it to their hosts.

Or both teams could play another inept game of sub-par football. That’s the likely one.

Meanwhile, last week’s picks were sub-par so here goes:

JETS 24, PATRIOTS 17

Desperation beats dismal. The Patriots are going nowhere, but the difference here is the Jets thought they’d be somewhere. If they lose this game, their seasonis over. New England’s season was over a long time ago.

CHIEFS 40, RAIDERS 7

Now we usually don’t pick a game like this but there were verrrrry few AFC games, so Mahomes & Co. can role the dice and enjoy Vegas while on a business trip. Speaking of such, how are those business decisions the Antonio Pierce is making and who the heck is his quarterback?

TEXANS 30, COLTS 21

This is an interesting game because Indy seems to be staying relevant despite all the quarterback issues. Hopefully Maye won’t be in and out of the lineup with injuries like Anthony Richardson. Texans have built things the right way, haven’t they?

BEARS 23, COMMANDERS 22

Talk about a game with two young QBs everybody wants to watch, Caleb Williams vs. Jayden Daniels – if Daniels plays. If he does, the above score goes. If he doesn’t, subtract 10 from Washington’s total.

NINERS 17, COWBOYS 16

What the heck has happened to these two teams? Well, SF has an excuse, they ravaged by injuries. Dallas is being ravaged by a senile egotistical owner. How ’bout dem Cowboys?

BENGALS 27, EAGLES 17

Philly finds out the hard way that they’re not playing the Giants anymore. The Bengals are ready to make their move, at 3-4. They’re certanly not looking ahead to the Raiders.

BILLS 26, SEAHAWKS 24

This could be a good one. It’ll be loud, that’s for sure, but Josh Allen and his team are purring, and they have added a quality wideout in Amari Cooper. Buffalo will hae the AFC East wrapped up in no time.

LAST WEEK: 4-3

SEASON: 30-19
